Relocation of stop Schweitzer and track renewal
A project for more spacious trams and improved accessibility and safety around the square
Published on
STIB-MIVB has requested a planning permit to relocate and modernize the stops on the busy tram line 9 and the De Lijn R15 bus line. The permit also covers the replacement of part of the tram tracks, which are worn down.
With this renovation we'll be able to use more spacious trams, improve accessibility for everyone and enhance travel safety.

Stop Schweitzer and relocation of the tram tracks
The project includes:
- New stops at the beginning of avenue Josse Goffin/Josse Goffinlaan
- Platforms:
- made longer, to make room for longer and more spacious trams
- raised and moved forward from the pavement to be on the same level as the tram floor
The result: easy and convenient access for everyone, including people with reduced mobility and pushchairs.

New Schweitzer stops for greater passenger safety and comfort
The total redevelopment of the stops serves three purposes: to improve passenger safety and comfort, and ensure access to trams for people with reduced mobility.
